How to prepare the perfect herbal bath for ultimate in luxurious pampering

Other than a full body massage with hot stones, I think a hot bath is my favourite way to unwind!

No longer do you have to pour in products full of nasty chemicals to achieve a truly blissful pampering bath of utter luxury.

You can use herbs from your garden, add magnesium salts and a few drops of your favourite essential oils.

If you're using your gorgeous Blissful Herbs bath blends, here's what to do, step by step.

Start with your loose bath herbs:

And fill up your muslin drawstring bag with a generous amount:

Use an old pantyhose if you don't have a muslin bag!

Pull the drawstring and place your herbal sachet in a container - a Pyrex bowl is perfect.

Then pour on boiling water from the kettle, enough to fully immerse the herbal sachet.

Cover with a lid (I just use a plate) and leave to steep while you run your bath, to prevent the precious essential oils from escaping.

After a good 10 minutes or more of steeping, the herbal liquid should be quite dark brown. Now pour the entire contents of the bowl into your warm bath - wet sachet and all.

Step in, gently stir with your body .... and let your cares drift away ...

You can scatter Pretty Petals on the herb-scented bath water

And of course, babies and toddlers are most welcome to join you!

However .... herbal baths are so popular, that you might need to barricade the door ... or while you quickly field a phone call, your children might beat you to it (true story!)

Brianna ran this lovely bath for herself, a well-deserved treat:

Then raced to the loo, and by the time she got back:

Huh. #mumlife
