The 'Birth Vibes' herbal tea

This is a wonderfully nutritious tea especially for the last few weeks of pregnancy, to support your body as it prepares for childbirth. It provides essential nutrients for the production of birth hormones. This tea contains herbs used for centuries to nourish birthing women, and strengthen our bodies for labour and birth. Use from 36 weeks onwards to help ripen the cervix, promote the release of birthing hormones, and strengthen and tone the uterus. To get the full benefit, avoid using metal implements when you make your tea. You can add lemon and honey for taste if you wish. You can enjoy your tea hot, warm or cold. Drink 2-4 cups daily.

The Birth Vibes tea contains:

Blessed Thistle – promotes blood flow to the pelvic area and and uterus

Chamomile – rich in bioflavonoids, relaxes muscles & eases labour pain when labour occurs

Motherwort – called the ‘birthing aid’ herb, toning the body ready for labour and leading to strong, effective contractions with less pain once labour starts.

Nettle – a richly nutritious herb that nourishes the female system, decreases pain during labour and helps prevent haemorrhage

Red Raspberry Leaf – contains fragrine, an alkaloid, which nourishes and tones the uterus, yielding strong, effective contractions when the time of labour comes. Richly nutritious, an excellent tonic which also helps prevent haemorrhage.

Squaw Vine (Partridgeberry) - a uterine tonic, partus preparator and parturient herb, this herb is considered to have a "special affinity" for the uterus and has been used traditionally to support a safe, easy and effective labour and birth.

Vervain – has the reputation of making childbirth easier and yielding effective contractions. It also nourishes the nervous system and has a calming, center-ing effect.

Other tips for nourishing and preparing your body and mind for labour and birth:

* Eat whole foods with lots of raw fruit and vegetables, cut down on sugar and white refined carbohydrate. Try juicing, if you're not already into that.

* Try Evening Primrose Oil capsules

* Consume dates! Yes, dates! See these articles:

The Amazing Date... a Fruit for MORE than Just Pregnancy

* Walk for half an hour or more daily, keep fit and active as you have done throughout your pregnancy

* See an Osteopath or Chiropractor

* Check out the Spinning Babies website

* Spend time doing floor stretches, pelvic tilts, hands & knees, pelvic circles etc

* Spend time relaxing, meditating, praying, visualising etc

* Have a healthy balance of exercise, stretches, and rest.

* Belly dancing is lovely for pregnancy!

* Have your doula or midwife try rebozo on you. It feels wonderful.

* Massage and sex are lovely for the hormones! Indulge freely ...

* Use music, art and symbolism to allow yourself to drift into your 'right brain'. The book, 'Birthing from Within' is an excellent resource.

* Think about a mother blessing ceremony, or blessingway, if you haven't had one already. I had mine just 7 days before Rory was born.

* If you can, go to the sea and walk on the beach (and swim, if it's warm enough.  There's just something about the ocean.

* Enjoy these last precious days and weeks with your little belly babe. Take some photos of your beautiful belly.

Remember that your 'EDD' is based on poor science and that it is quite normal for some women to gestate to 10 months. You can't go 'over'. Your baby will be born when you are ready and when your baby is ready. So, let time pass according to the rhythms of nature and life - you don't need to come under any time pressure from the calendars and clocks of modern life.

* Celebrate this wonderful, sacred season in your life!

I bought the Birth Vibes tea because I knew I'd need the nutrients and support from the herbs, but was unprepared for how delicious it is also. I'm really pleased, it's nurturing my mind and body both at once.
Also, I love love love the little bamboo strainer and spoon, no floaters in this cuppa! Tabitha

I have shared this tea with women who have birthed within my local community and they have found that it has always been such a fantastic support to them after the birth of their little ones.
It is the small act of self care, taking some time out to nurture and nourish their amazing body's which is often the reply that I receive from these women. Enjoying Julie's teas become a sacred time of reflection, and are a beautiful addition to their days at this incredible time in life.

I'm really enjoying the Birthing Vibes as an iced tea daily. I make up a litre jug in the morning and sip it throughout the day :) I'm also loving the muslin teabag - feels so good to not just be throwing a tea bag away when needed! Alison xxx
