Our Births

* Here is a montage about our experiences with the homebirths of our three princess warriors:

Listening to Rain ... our births

* Here is the story of the birth of our first baby. Be warned. It's long! Only for die-hard birth-story addicts (puts up hand).
Listening to Rain - the birth of Talitha

* Our second baby was born in a shopping mall. Unusual setting - but a lovely birth!
Where the Spirit of the Lord is - the birth of Saoirse Deborah

* Our third baby girl was also born at home in New Zealand - where we chose to go because there the Government supports and funds homebirth services, one-to-one midwifery care for women; and empowers midwives as independent practitioners. However, it is worth noting that while funded homebirth and empowered midwifery are excellent goals, and I hope we have that available here in Australia SOON - every consumer still needs to be responsible to wisely choose the right careprovider (be it doula, obstetrician, midwife or any member of your chosen birth team) for THEM.

Even - or perhaps, especially - a birth that does not go completely according to plan, brings with it its own special lessons.
For Such a Time as This - the birth of Hadassah Dara

* Our fourth baby only stayed with us for 11 short weeks of gestation - but we loved her and we miss her. This is the story of her life and loss, and the sweet blessings she left with us.
A great white bird takes flight - farewelling Roisin

* Our fifth baby and fourth child and first son is Ruaidhri (Rory) Zephaniah, who joined us 8 years after his big sister Hadassah when I was 43!
